Job Ads in Comments
The Python New Zealand committee generally welcomes the posting of Python-related job opportunities in the comments on meetup.com, provided they meet the following guidelines:
- The job is Python-related.
- The job is suitable for someone based in New Zealand, i.e., it is either located in NZ or open to remote work from NZ.
- This must be clearly stated in the post.
- All available job details should be included directly in the comment, rather than linking to an external site (especially not to a list of jobs).
The committee reserves the right to remove any comments — and/or ban accounts — that violate these guidelines, at its sole discretion.

Using a real-life example (with code and configs to take home), we’ll explore the general considerations of Why do this? and What makes others use my software? Then we’ll look at how to get there: growing (up) a script into a readable, maintainable codebase, and setting up CI/CD so your next commit can "Look ma, no hands" bump the version and publish to PyPI.1 attendeeWellington Python Meetup

In this talk, I’ll share how I began learning Python through a data science class, then moved into web development with guidance from a SAIL Innovation Lab graduate. I built several websites, trained others, and later earned a scholarship at SAIL to study Generative AI. After a Python refresher course and months of hands-on learning, I worked on AI projects aimed at solving real-world problems.
From basic data wrangling to building intelligent systems and web tools, I’ll walk through the challenges, key resources, and real-life applications that shaped my growth. Python became a key tool in my journey as a Generative AI Engineer and ICT Manager. Whether you’re just starting out or looking for inspiration, I hope my story encourages you to explore Python’s potential in your own field.
