What we’re about
ALL BLACK LIVES MATTER. STOP AAPI HATE. END ANTI-SEMITISM. CHOOSE LOVE. The Canandaigua (CDGA) Queer Lit Book Club has been welcoming readers since 2018. In partnership with Wood Library, we are an inclusive community of readers who meet bi-monthly in a hybrid format to discuss LGBTQAI2S+ books and/or books by LGBTQAI2S+ authors. Representation matters. Join the conversation!
The Canandaigua Queer Lit Book Club respectfully acknowledges that we operate on land, which is the territory of the Onöndowa’ga:’ (Seneca) Nation, a member of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. Learn more with Ganondagan and the National Indigenous Women's Resource Center.

YOU'RE INVITED
This is a HYBRID event and will take place in-person at Wood Library in Canandaigua and online via Zoom.Join your friends and meet new ones as we continue our sixth season of CDGA Queer Lit Book Club and discuss two graphic novels: Stage Dreams by Melanie Gillman and Check, Please by Ngozi Ukazu.
OVERVIEW - Stage Dreams by Melanie Gillman
"The New Mexico Territory, 1861. Young Grace, a trans runaway, has headed west, fleeing her Georgia home--and conscription into the Confederate Army. But her coach ride to California makes an unplanned stop when notorious outlaw the Ghost Hawk swoops in, shaking down its passengers and stealing away with Grace. The Ghost Hawk--Flor, to her friends--means to hold Grace for ransom. But when the two get to talking about Flor's plan to crash a Confederate gala, Grace convinces Flor to let her join the heist."OVERVIEW - Check, Please Book 1 by Ngozi Ukazu
"Eric Bittle may be a former junior figure skating champion, vlogger extraordinaire, and very talented amateur pâtissier, but being a freshman on the Samwell University hockey team is a whole new challenge. It is nothing like co-ed club hockey back in Georgia! First of all? There’s checking (anything that hinders the player with possession of the puck, ranging from a stick check all the way to a physical sweep). And then, there is Jack*—*his very attractive but moody captain.A collection of the first half, freshmen and sophomore year, of the megapopular webcomic series of the same name, Check, Please!: #Hockey is the first book of a hilarious and stirring two-volume coming-of-age story about hockey, bros, and trying to find yourself during the best four years of your life."
