What we’re about
We are Noisebridge. Noisebridge is a hackerspace for technical and creative projects, do-ocratically run by our members. We are a non-profit educational institution intended for public benefit. Come and visit our space, a 5,000+ square-foot area located in the heart of San Francisco. We teach, we learn, we share.
Noisebridge has MOVED to 272 Capp Street, directly behind the old space, still between 17th and 18th streets in San Francisco's Mission neighborhood! It’s all very exciting, and we need your support to pull it off! Join Noisebridge in building the largest non profit hacker community in San Francisco. Our biggest needs are recurring donations and volunteer hours to work on buildout, setting up the electronics room, wood shop, machine shop, and so on. You can donate at patreon.com/noisebridge, and visit the space at 272 Capp Street during our open hours and events, for a tour or to work on your own projects!

## Building Guitar Pedals Workshop
Thanks to everyone who came to the last workshop it was great meeting all of you, I’m looking forward to helping you create a successful project!
If you have questions contact me through the Noisebridge discord. We have dedicated channel: events > #pedal-building. Use this link to join:

You can also contact me get information through my blog:
### Wiring up the switch, pots, and jacks
The next session will be about wiring all of the parts once they are in the box. I’d like to plan this session as work time. Bring what you are working on. You can use the Noisebridge soldering irons, drill press and other tools to move your project to completion!
I updated my website to include parts lists and links for all of the boards people are working on.
Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions about where to start!
### Who should do this?
Anyone with an interest making electronic projects, and an interest in guitars or electronics and music!
### What can I Make?
Anything you want! I’ve built boosters, overdrives, distortion, fuzz, delays, phase shifters, and more! The schematics for all of the classic effects like the Big Muff, Fuzz Face, Tube Screamer, and many of the newer pedals are available on the internet. If you can find the schematic for something and the parts you can build it.
But don’t stop there! If you can find the schematic for something and like to experiment you can modify it as much as you like to make something new!
### About me:
Hi my name is Mitchell, I teach front end web development and have a hobby making things! I have built many guitar pedals, and synthesizer modules. Full disclosure, I majored in art in college, and am not an electrical engineer. If I can do this you can do it!
Take a look at my blog: http://www.super-freq.com/
### Where will we be making guitar pedals?
At noisebridge 272 Capp Street, in the electronics room.
### What Tools and materials do you need to make guitar pedals?
Noisebridge has a lot of electronics parts on hand, much of it looks like it would be great for analog projects. That said they don’t have everything. There is probably enough onsite to get started, you may have to order some parts in the future, talk to me I can help you out ordering parts if you have questions.
You’ll solderless breadboard for prototyping, solder iron, wire cutters, and a multimeter for debugging. Noisebridge has most of these things on-site.
Please donate to help us run the space if you can, but no one is turned away from lack of funds. We suggest a sliding scale donation of $10-30 going towards the maintenance of and new equipment for the space.
Payable to our cash box, or by Venmo, Paypal, or Credit Card. See Donate to Noisebridge for more information.
- Spacebridge: Let's send something to (near) space!Noisebridge, San Francisco, CA
Space is awesome but why should NASA Ames get all the fun? San Francisco deserves another space program. To this end Noisebridge is stepping up to challenge and reviving the Spacebridge program!!
As a starter project we're planning on sending up a high altitude balloon with some avionics, a camera, and possibly something that let's us claim a "first X in the stratosphere" record.
This will be a cross-disciplinary project-based learning experience involving: electronics, software, radio operation, fabrics, treasure hunting (downed weather balloons are considered salvage), and more!
All are welcome - from fledgling space enthusiasts to seasoned astronauts!
For our first meetup we'll aim to:
- discuss potential projects scope
- go over the steps needed to send something up to (near) space
- set up a ground station to track and read telemetry off weather balloons (which are sent up twice a day from Oakland airport).
