What we’re about
Los Angeles Responsible Pit Bull Owners (LARPBO) launched in February 2011 to bring together "Responsible Pit Bull Owners" in the greater Los Angeles area. Our mission is to join together in group activities, events, pit bull advocacy, education/training classes, and community outreach in order to promote a positive image of all “bully breeds.”
We are committed to educating the public about responsible pit bull and dog ownership, banishing the myths that the media feeds the public. We actively work together to share the truth about bully breeds: they are very loyal, loving, intelligent dogs who are amazing and wonderful family pets. Just like any dog, given proper obedience training, socialization with humans, and appropriate interaction with other dogs, this breed defies media misconceptions. By promoting attention and communication between dogs and owners we can show the general public what we already know: these are amazing creatures deserving of full and happy lives.
LARPBO promotes the importance of spaying and neutering all bully breeds, as well as rescuing and re-homing. The overpopulation of these dogs currently creates the assumption that these dogs don’t deserve a chance.
With so much controversy surrounding the bully breeds today, our focus is not only to increase awareness of the issues that affect pit bulls and their ownership, but to work together to be a part of the solution. Our goal with Los Angeles Responsible Pit Bull Owners is to gather pit bull loving friends and owners as a community – a community dedicated to making a stand for our best friends and strive to do so with the same fun-loving outlook that our dogs have in life.

This is a space for wherever you and your dog are at in your relationship. We walk, we relax, we bond with our dogs and our community.

- No dogs in heat

Some pack walk instructions to note prior to attending:
- Safe distancing: please be respectful of all dogs and their humans who attend. We want everyone to find their comfort zone and for some that may be far away from the group. We ask that everyone remain at least 6 feet apart upon arrival, even if your dogs know each other. Dogs must always be kept on leash.
Be respectful: everyone is working on something with their dogs. We want this to be a safe space where dogs and humans can build their relationships and trust. Please do not force any meetings or feel like you have to stick with the group. Know your dog's limits.
Walking: We do a spaced out walk. This is not a time for dogs to play with each other. They are socializing just by being around each other. We take breaks as needed. We typically do 2-3 loops around the space we're at with breaks in between. After the first loop, feel free to pair up with others for a distanced walk if you and your dogs are comfortable and safe.
Wrapping up: at the end we sit/stand spaced out to allow our dogs to find their comfort zone again while we talk with each other. We are here for the dogs and their safe space so please respect where everyone is at in their relationship with their dog.
*If you need to leave early, please do so. There isn't any set timeframe for our walks.
*Know your dog's limits - if they can only handle showing up for 10 minutes, we appreciate you joining us with them and hope you keep coming so they get familiar with everything and everyone!
*This is a judgment free zone - if your dog needs to wear a muzzle or sit and just watch everyone walk or is reactive to dogs or people, we invite you to join us and keep showing up.
MEETING LOCATION: Palisades Park, off Ocean and Montana
