Kochi Java User Group (JUG) is a forum for anyone who has an interest in Java, JVM and related technologies who is based out of Kochi, or planning to visit Kochi, or anyone interested.
Vision: To be the primary forum in Kochi area for the Java Technologists.
Mission: Empower Engineers, Technologists, Managers, Students or anyone with an interest in Java Technologies by periodic connects among themselves as well as with experts by meetups and events, both physical and online.

We plan to meet periodically to discuss, connect, and ideate of Java related technologies. Though we are just starting the vision is to be the go-to forum for Java related tech in Kochi and neighbouring areas. Kochi JUG is now listed in page listing official JUGS. Discussion will be primarily in open source tech which would mean an exposure to open source eco-system. Open Source thrives on community and let us aspire to be a supporting pillar for Java open source efforts.

Whether you’re curious about open source, looking to give back to the community, or want to take your first steps as a contributor, this workshop will provide practical guidance and real-world insights.
If you’re an open-source enthusiast or someone who has always wanted to contribute but didn’t know where to start, this workshop is a great fit for you.Prerequisites for the workshop :
1. Laptop
2. Configured/Install Git

Eclipse foundation account and Sign-in ECAThis workshop will give you a hands-on introduction to making your first open-source contribution, with a special focus on contributing to the Eclipse ecosystem. You will learn how real-world Eclipse projects like Eclipse Platform and JDT are developed in the open, how to identify beginner-friendly issues in the Eclipse GitHub repositories, set up the Eclipse development environment locally, make a meaningful code change, and confidently submit your first Pull Request. The session will include practical guidance, live demos, and tips on collaborating with the Eclipse community
