Grassington - Hebden & Moorland Lead Mines – 7 miles

Details

Second run-out for this walk. An interesting & scenic walk. We start by walking through the market place and then head over to the village of Hebden, picking up the route of Hebden Ghyll up onto the moorland which encompasses Yarnbury lead mines before descending Lea Green back into central Grassington.

Terrain includes quiet roads, field crossings, rocky uneven paths, moorland walking along solid or grassy tracks and some stepping stones over a narrow stream!

The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.

Walk fee: £3. No dogs please. Bring packed lunch/drink/snacks with you.

Meeting point: we will meet at the bottom of the market square (see photo).

Parking: the main parking area is the National Park Centre car park. As of 11/3, the car park costs £5.50 and the toilets are free (or donation). Allow 10mins to walk from the main car park to our meeting point. There are a number of free parking areas around the village, if you're lucky.

After-walk refreshment: Anywhere in Grassington is likely to be busy but there are a variety of pub & tearoom options.

I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
