Escrick - Naburn - 5.75 miles

Details

NEW WALK!! Easy, flat walk linking the villages of Escrick & Naburn in a circular route. Despite the close proximity to the A19 at the start of the walk, we soon leave the ‘noise’ behind as we traverse farmland along paths, tracks and quiet lanes en route to Naburn, a village that clings to the side of the river Ouse. Our return leg picks up a section of the Solar System cycle path that passes Uranus! This was a very peaceful and very flat walk to recce under a sunny Spring sky (18/3)!

The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.

Walk fee £2. No dogs please. Bring a snack/drink for a short morning break.

Start/Meeting point: Escrick Church car park adjacent to the A19. If travelling south from York, immediately after the church, take a right turn along a narrow road. The church car park will be on your rhs. Once this is filled, we have permission to the use the pub cp opposite, providing you are going into the pub afterwards. Alternatively, if you turn left off the A19 (signed Skipwith), there is roadside parking but would suggest using the side-streets as the Skipwith Road can have queue’s of traffic waiting to get on to the A19.

After-walk refreshment: The Fat Abbot pub has a lunch menu and outdoor seating both at the front and the rear of the pub.

I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you are responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
