Flamborough Peninsula - 9.5 miles

Details

A walk not led since 2021! This walk is definitely worth the extra travelling involved to get there!!

The only ‘challenging’ bits are several flights of steps to ascend and descend at various points along the cliff path. After that, the most challenging thing is to decide which flavour ice-cream you are going to purchase at Flamborough Head!

The walk is predominantly along the coastline from our start point at Danes Dyke as we make our way thorough South Landing, Flamborough Head, North Landing and Thornwick Bay before heading inland alongside a couple of fields to Flamborough village.

From here it’s a 30min walk back to our start point AFTER we have indulged ourselves in after-walk refreshment - the pub stop has been accounted for in the finish time.

The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.

Walk fee: £3. No dogs please. Bring packed lunch/drink/snacks with you.

Morning break: we will have an extended morning break at Flamborough Head so there will be the opportunity to have coffee & cake, ice-cream or look around the gift shop which has some ‘quality’ items!

(Near to the) end of walk refreshment: a cool, refreshing drink at the Dog & Duck. After rehydrating ourselves, we will complete the remaining 30mins of the walk.

START LOCATION: Danes Dyke (Nature Reserve) car park, Sewerby YO15 1AA. Car park fee: £4.50. There are three car parks at Danes Dyke, we will meet in the bottom one – where the toilets are.

FURTHER NOTES: If you arrive early enough for pre-walk refreshment, hopefully the café in the car park will be open but no guarantees. We will be stopping for our after-walk refreshment before completing the last 30mins of the walk but if there is anybody who wants to head straight back, I’ll hand you printed instructions at the time. Please note a number of the pubs/café’s in the area were cash only the last time we were there.
I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
