Lastingham to Hutton-le-Hole (4.5 miles) + Sunday lunch option (see below)

This very scenic walk includes the attractive villages of Lastingham and Hutton-le-Hole, which are situated along the southern edge of the North York Moors N.P., a few miles north of Kirkbymoorside off the A170. It’s a bit up and down with two climbs, one at the start and one at the end.

Hutton-le-Hole is one of the most picturesque villages in Yorkshire.

Note: if your travelling route takes you through HLH, there are toilets located in the public car park as you turn off the main street towards Lastingham.

The walking route comprises of woodland trails, quiet roads, field & farm tracks.

Start location/parking: we start from the very small village green in Lastingham (see photo), the postcode (of the pub) is YO62 6TN. The village green is just down the road from the church and the pub. Roadside parking along a number of roads.

However, parking is limited, hence the restriction on numbers for this walk and no guests permitted. Car sharing is highly recommended.

No mobile reception in Lastingham village.

The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.

Walk fee: £2. No dogs please. Bring snacks/drink with you for a short morning break.

LUNCH OPTION: I have booked a table for 12 people at the rustic Blacksmiths Arms in Lastingham, a very nice pub where we've eaten on previous occasions.
If you wish to book a place for the meal, please post a message on this page, noting that you will need to have paid your annual membership fee before doing so. Therefore, no guests permitted on this event.
Please ensure you arrive in good time as the pub have requested we pop in before the walk to advise them of our menu choices.

I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
