Join the Cambridge Wildish Club for an afternoon of Wildlife spotting in the Fen. We will go for a Wildish Walkthrough the stunning landscapes of Wicken Fen and Burwell Fen, searching for the Konik ponies and highland cattle. There will also be a chance to spot Marsh Harriers, Egrets, and possibly a Short-Eared Owl!

Where to meet: Meet at the picnic tables outside the Visitor Centre (near the Wicken Fen car park - cash, card, or phone payment accepted; free for National Trust members) for a 1:00 pm departure.

Route: Our route will take us along the tranquil Wicken Lode, crossing Monks Lode to Bakers Fen, where we’ll have the chance to spot waterfowl. Continuing alongside Adventurers Fen, we’ll make our way to Bakers Hide before reaching Cock Up Bridge on Burwell Lode. From here, look out for Konik ponies, Highland cattle, and a wealth of birdlife, including Marsh Harriers, Egrets, and possibly a Short-Eared Owl!

After enjoying the views and wildlife, we’ll return to the Visitor Centre, where the Docky Hut Café awaits. The return route may vary depending on time.

What to bring: No entry fee is required for the walk itself—just the car park.
Please dress for the weather and bring a drink and a snack if you wish. The walk ends at the Docky Hut cafe. Please bring binoculars if you have them.

Dogs are allowed but must be on lead.

Walking difficulty: Flat and should be dry in April unless there has been a lot of rain. Dogs on leads and under close control are allowed on this part of the Fen.

Walking distance: 3 miles with cafe and toilets at the car park and Docky Hut.
