What we’re about
Hi! I'm Mike. I'm facilitating this group as a place for IT professionals to meet, trade ideas, mentor and network. But I need your help! I'm looking for your support and assistance to help with the running of the group, offer to share your knowledge with others, provide venues for us as a way to promote your organisation, and anything and everything else. Or to simply come to our events and show your support that way. Come chat to me at our next event or give me a yell in meetup or LinkedIn chat.
The Wellington Architects Forum is a community for all IT professionals who either have 'architect' in their job title or practise architecture in their day-to-day jobs (which really is nearly all of us). Its goal is to provide a technology- and methodology-agnostic community support network for architecture practitioners of all specialties and skill levels, and networking opportunities for career growth.
As the name suggests we are Wellington based, our members practise all forms of architecture and many of our members are from wider New Zealand (and beyond).
We are active on LinkedIn and Meetup, search for the "Wellington Architects Forum" on either platform or go to

Please Note: We may stream, photograph or record these events and may reproduce the image of any person at events, here and on other sites like LinkedIn for promotional and other purposes. Please come talk to me if you'd prefer not to be in photos and videos like this and be aware that most events are video streamed on Teams for other members of the group.

See all- Resilience for Uncertain TimesSomewhere in Wellington - TBA, Wellington
As Architects and IT Professionals who are Wellington based in 2025, it's undeniable that the chaos and uncertainty we're living through has a substantial effect - on ourselves, on our colleagues, on our whānau. How do we understand what this stress really does to us at work and home and create the resilience to continue to perform and stay human under these circumstances?
According to a 2017 survey (remember those pre-Covid, pre-public service cutback times?!) conducted by Southern Cross and Business NZ, 31.2 percent of employees said their level of stress had risen in the last two years. Over 40 per cent of workers in larger companies cite trying to hit targets as a big cause of stress. It is a simple fact that stress is a major health concern for a lot of organisations, not only for the health and wellbeing of their employees, but also for the cost of absenteeism and poor performance that this leads to.
Sometimes awareness is curative. Understanding the things that cause us to feel stress allows us to put strategies into place to ensure this doesn’t happen. Managing stress is something that is within all our control. Developing the mental and emotional skills that lead to resilience helps us overcome seemingly impossible hurdles and enables us to bounce back from tough times and to push through times of uncertainty.Cillín Hearns, founder of Results Coaching is a former IT consultant and leader who has pivoted to building a highly successful leadership and performance coaching organisation. His Leadership Meetups are unmissable and I always come away from time with Cillín with new ideas and new perspectives.
What will you learn from this session?
- Understand what stress actually is and how it impacts our mindset and physiology
- Apply mental strategies to overcome negativity and harmful thought patterns
This session will be highly interactive, and don't forget to ask questions and talk to Cillín about what's on your mind. He has a wealth of techniques and knowledge at his fingertips for you to draw on.
Everyone is welcome - if you are in an IT/Digital role or considering one, you do architecture and you should come along and meet us. This talk will be particularly useful for folks considering an Architect role or want to know what Architects do.
This talk will be both in person and remote via Teams. I'll post links to the Teams session closer to the time.
