A beautiful 9 mile stretch of this lovely trail in East Sussex which we shall walk at MEDIUM pace that features so much nature and wildlife !
Opened in 1880, the railway was named the Cuckoo Trail after the tradition that the first cuckoo of spring was always heard at the Heathfield Fair.
Sadly the railway line was cut in the 1960s as part of the 'Beeching' cuts.
Please arrive by 9.20am to facilitate the purchase of group train tickets for the train at 9.54am that arrives at Polegate at 11.09am.
Train ticket : return to Polegate.
Or you may decide to drive.
The walk shall commence by 11.15am.
We shall have a quick drink around lunchtime in Horsebridge.
We shall take the bus back at 3.56pm from Horam before then taking the 4.42pm train back to London from Polegate that arrives back at 6.06pm.
You should be able to walk 2.5 miles per hour and have adequate and appropriate insurance for this type of activity.

Please bring packed lunch, water, snacks etc plus waterproof jacket and walking shoes/boots or trainers.
