An absolutely stunning 5 day trip in store by these beautiful lakes in such stunning locations in Italy !

We shall be staying in delightful Verona which has so much more history - shaped by the Romans, renaissance artists and retreating armies - than simply being the famous setting for Romeo and Juliette !

Meet 3.45pm for 4pm at train station :

River walk in Verona taking in Juliette's famed balcony followed by free time to further discover this wonderful city

Monday

Meet at train station as from 9.15am :

Climbing Mount Isola within Lake Iseo that affords the most spectacular lake and mountain views or you may prefer to stay on the flat by taking the mountain road

Tuesday

Optional Day

Meet at train station as from 9.15am :

Either :

Train to Padua at 10am : Sightseeing day in nearby city of Padua and in particular Scrovegni Chapel ( tickets need be booked online in advance - entrance at noon ) and Basilica of St Anthony in Padua

Or :

A day out in Venice

Wednesday

Meet at train station as from 8.15am :

Train then bus to Lazise on Lake Garda ( or take direct bus at around 8.15am ) for wonderful 7 mile lakeside walk to Garda where we shall have lunch and then take the hour long ferry to delightful Sirmione that houses elegant shops and boutiques plus beaches so time for swimming !

Ferry and train back to Verona in late afternoon.

Thursday

Meet at train station as from 9am :

Train at 9.31am : Morning 6 or 7 mile walk by the river and three lakes that surround historical city of Mantua that houses some really fabulous buildings

Train back to Verona at 1.29pm

All these trips plus the delightful architecture, the fine weather, singing on the trains and boat, pizza, pasta and delicious gelato too this promises to be a quite unforgettable adventure !

Please book any hotel in Verona for four nights through booking.com in the coming months and then put a comment on the event page with the name of the hotel.

You could of course arrive a day or two early or stay a few days longer as you wish.

Deadline to book your hotel and flights is end of December 2024.

Return flights to Verona when available :

Sunday early morning to Verona from Gatwick with Easyjet or from Stansted with Ryanair

Thursday mid evening Bza flight from Verona or late evening from Venice to Gatwick with Easyjet

We shall be travelling by local trains and buses.

Meetup fee £40 ( season ticket holders £30 ) payable in advance by private bank transfer.

You should be able to walk at 2.5 miles per hour and be prepared to take on some rougher terrain and inclines on the mountain walk.

Walking and hiking in the Great Outdoors presents certain low level risks and by rsvping to this trip you agree to undertake such risks.

If you make arrangements with others for restaurants or taxis you should honour it.
