Walks by Water - walking, hiking London

The famous Seven Sisters !

13 miles long with at least 7 major hills and one of the best coastal walks in southern England with fabulous views !

Only attempt this walk if you are fine with dealing with so many difficult hills taking into account also the length of the walk !

Let's go with the flow !

Group return train tickets shall be purchased as from 8.50am for the train at 9.24am that arrives at Seaford at 10. 48am after changing trains at Lewes.

Or you may decide to drive.

At Seaford we shall go to the public toilets a few minutes away from the train station.

Please bring packed lunch, water, snacks etc plus waterproof jacket and wear boots, walking shoes or trainers.

Meetup fee : £8 payable in cash or £6 by Friday in advance by bank transfer, details supplied upon request.

The walk shall commence by 11.30am after we stop off for public toilets NEAR Seaford train station.

We shall have a drink at the end of the walk in Eastbourne and perhaps fish and chips too.

At Eastbourne train station a small supplementary fare shall need be purchased in respect of the first part of the return journey to Lewes which was not covered by the return train ticket purchased in the morning.

You should be able to walk 2.5 miles per hour and have adequate and appropriate insurance for this type of activity.

A truly unforgettable weekend of walking and sightseeing in this fantastic Yorkshire coastal location !

The town provided the inspiration for Bram Stoker's classic novel Dracula and iconic Whitby Abbey - a magnificent vision - is perched on a cliff top reached by walking up 199 steps which we shall be doing on the first day.

Itinerary:

Saturday afternoon

Meet at train station - 4.45pm for 5pm for 4 to 5 mile walk along the beach to Sandsend where we shall stop for a drink at the Hart Inn and then walk back

4 mile River Esk walk to Sleights

Walk north of the river to Ruswarp then south of the river into Sleights

Train back 11.40am
or bus at 11.49am

You can of course arrive a day or two early or stay on beyond Tuesday.

All local travel will be by bus and train.

Please book 3 nights at a hotel ( Saturday to Tuesday ) of your choosing in Whitby and then leave a comment on the event page with the name of your accommodation.

Return to Scarborough from London Kings Cross :

Saturday 10am to 12.59pm

Tuesday 4.54pm to 7.49pm

We shall travel between Scarborough and Whitby by coastal bus which takes around one hour

You should have appropriate and adequate insurance for this type of activity and be able to walk 2.5 miles per hour.

Lets do this fantastic varied 12 mile walk in which we first walk along the disused Chichester Ship Canal, then by Chichester Marina and finally arrive at West Wittering beach after enjoying the amazing views of the estuary.

At West Wittering we shall need
take the bus back to Chichester at around 5.10pm and then the train back to London at around 6pm.

Things to bring : packed lunch, water, snacks etc plus waterproof jacket and walking shoes or plus sunhat, suncream and sunglasses.

As from 8.50am we shall buy group return train tickets for the train at 9.35am that arrives at 11.06am.

Train ticket : Chichester return

Or you may decide to drive.

Walk shall commence at 11.15am.

Meetup fee : £8 payable in cash or £6 by Friday in advance by bank transfer, details supplied upon request.

You may decide to stay overnight in the Chichester area and on Sunday do the Thorney Island walk.

You should be able to walk 2.5 miles per hour and have adequate and appropriate insurance for this type of activity.

If you are not prepared to walk at this pace and to keep up with those in front then please change your rsvp.

Lets walk 8 miles around this really wonderful Ministry of Defence island and its fabulous secluded beach and delightful wildlife !

The group willl buy group return train tickets to Emsworth as from 8.45am for the train at 9.35am that arrives at Southbourne at 11.15am.

The walk will commence from Southbourne train station.

Please note that I shall not be there at the ticket office as am staying over on the south coast after the walk on Saturday.

Or you may decide to drive.

Things to bring : packed lunch, water, snacks etc plus waterproof jacket, walking shoes or trainers and suncream, sunhat and sunglasses.

If you like, by travelling light, you may stay in a hotel overnight on Saturday having perhaps walked Chichester to West Wittering.
