Walk on St Catherine's Hill in Winchester.

Meet at the East Park and Ride carpark, which is nearby. There is a cafe nearby but I was planning on taking a packed lunch to hopefully eat in the sunshine!

Southampton played a unique role in the effort to defend the United Kingdom's freedom. As the home of The Spitfire and a key staging point for the invasion of Europe, it played a pivotal role in bringing about Victory in Europe (VE Day).

Celebrate VE Day 80 at the Southampton VE Day 80th Anniversary Street Party, organised by the Bedford and Carlton Place Community with support from Southampton City Council and GO! Southampton.

This will take place at Carlton Place on Sunday 11th May 12noon - 5pm.

Every year on the third Sunday in May the streets of this Georgian town are closed to traffic to transform the town into a family-friendly FREE festival.

Street markets, food & drink stalls, cookery demonstrations and the Hampshire Farmers Market. The highlight of the day though is Watercress Eating Championship which takes place at 15:00 on the main stage.

The festival opens at 10:00 and closes at 16:00.

Last year we used the Ropley park and ride site, which includes a train ride along the Watercress Line into the village.

We can meet in the morning at the carpark or later in the day in the village if you'd prefer. As it is an all day event some may want to arrive later.
