Session #1: Going Back to Basics in An AI world: Designing , Writing and Executing tests
Designing, writing, and executing tests are the core pillars of a tester’s contribution, regardless of whether there’s a dedicated testing phase or not. Testers add value by deeply understanding the product and exploring its behavior through structured test design techniques, flowcharts, mental models, and risk-based coverage. Writing concise, impactful test plans using shorthand and references keeps testing lean and effective. During execution, session-based testing helps track progress while enabling focused exploration and detailed reporting. These skills define the real craft of testing. Further learning can be found through key books, blogs, and practitioners who continue to push the discipline forward.
##### Key Takeaways
- Good test design starts with mapping, modeling, and using smart coverage techniques.
- Writing short, clear test plans beats bloated docs—clarity and purpose win.
- Execution thrives on structured exploration—session-based testing keeps it focused and insightful.
