What we’re about

In 2004, Susan Hughes founded the Baby Girl Project – a non-profit located in Richmond, Virginia. At the time, the focus was on empowering children, especially girls, by providing the funds to build schools for children in the Masai Mara region of Kenya. By 2019, we had funded the building of 44 school rooms with WE Charity, based in Toronto, Canada. We also donated towards teacher's salaries, school libraries, clean water projects, school uniforms, school supplies, and the 2011 famine relief efforts in Kenya.

Most of the funds that were raised came from Psychic Festivals held at the Aquarian Bookshop in Richmond, VA. Our organization operates entirely on a volunteer basis, and our success is a result of the generous individuals donating their time and talents. This enables all the proceeds from these festivals to be allocated towards supporting our projects.

Having achieved our goals in Kenya for now, we are currently directing our attention towards supporting local non-profit organizations, especially those that benefit neglected and abused animals.
