The Glasgow Photography Meetup welcomes anyone who enjoys taking pictures, regardless of experience. If you are keen to meet up with fellow photographers to exchange ideas, talk about and take pictures, The Glasgow Photography Club is for you.
As a group we have a special interest in people in pictures and portraiture, as well as a comprehensive list of meetups ranging form landscape, street and anything else you care to try out. Let us know the kind of meetups you would like to get involved in, and we will try to arrange events that are of interest.
If you add your attendance to a meetup, please do remember to change your RSVP to let us know if you can no longer make the event. Anyone who fails to do this on more than three occasions will be taken off the members list.
Note that we have a small fee for each event to cover costs and membership fees. These are included in the fee for workshop and model shoot events.

See all- THE BIG ONE - MULTI MODEL SHOOTGovan old Parish Church, Glasgow£35.00
Join us at Govan Old Parish Church where we will be joined by lots of great models including Deadly Innocence, Selina, Autumn adAnya, a classically trained ballerina, who will be giving us the opportunity to photograph her in action. We will also have other models at the event including character models.
The church itself is a great Victorian Gothic venue and will make a superb backdrop for photographs. There is also an attached graveyard with ancient stones. If you are interested in photographing people, this would be ideal event to take pictures of models and other interesting characters. A great opportunity to those who are keen to dip their toe in the water with models shoots and portrait photography as well as more seasoned photographers as there will be a wide cast of models and willing subjects to photograph.
Although not strictly a tutored shoot, we will be on hand to help with setup and advise you if you need it.

Anya - A Classically Trained Ballerina
There will be an eclectic mix of other models at the event too, so lots of opportunity to capture a wide selection of characters..
As this is a large event and it will be more structured than our usual model days, so depending on the number of attendees we may group photographers so everyone gets an even chance working with the models.
On the day you will have access to a variety of lighting and light modifiers. Feel free to bring along any equipment of your own too.
You can book for for £35 per hourly slot or a bargain £90 for the entire session (3 hours).

Many photographer find the prospect of posing and lighting a model quite daunting, especially if they have never no experience of photographing a professional model.This workshop will help you gain confidence photographing and posing a live subject. This is an invaluable experience if you would like to go on to photographing models and clients in the future. It will also help add some nice images to your portfolio. On the day we will be will have no more than four attendees to allow for lots of individual attenton and time with our model
You will have the opportunity to photograph using ambient light, modifiers, flash and continuous lighting.
Feel free to bring along any equipment of your own and get practice and advice while using it.There is also an indoor space where we can warm ouselves and hopefuly get some good pics.
On the day we will talk you through all the vital elements of creating a good portrait. In addition to considering all the essential ingredients such as lens choice, posing and camera angle and settings, we will experiment with continuous LED lighting, flash, use of reflectors and blending ambient light with flash to create pleasing images. This workshop should help raise you skills and gain confidence in portrait photography.
Workshops are limited to only four attendees to allow lots of individual attention. They are are open to those who are new to portrait photogprahy and those looking to gain more experience in posing and lighting a model.
This would be an ideal follow on for those who have attended any of the previous beginners portraiture workshops as it would be an oppotunity to put into practice what you have learnt and gian experience working with a model.At the workshop you will have the opportunity to practice individually with the model and as a group. You are encouraged to bring along any recent images that you have taken, especially the ones that you are 'not happy with'. Don't be shy: everyone has images that didn't work out quite the way we wanted them to, and they are the images that we can learn from. Just pop them on your phone or brig them along. Don't worry, you won't be picked on😀This is a great way to improve your photogrpahy. We can talk through how to avoid the common pitfalls and take your portraiture to the next level.
The setting for this event is The Glasgow University Cloister in the Gilbert Scott Building. The Victorian Gothic Arches make for a very drammatic and atmosperic backdrop.You will find the cloisters through the main gate on University Avenue in the Old Victorian Gothic Gilbert Scott Building. Refunds will be given if the event is cancelled. When an event is arranged, the booked models have to be paid whether the event goes ahead or not. This also applies to venues. A good deal administration and time goes in to organising the Meetups. Many shoots are under subscribed. When this happens we prefer to go ahead, rather that cause disappointment to all involved. If for any reason you are unable to attend an event, we may be able to offer you a spot, free of charge, on a future shoot. This is at the discretion of the organiser. We cannot accommodate requests for specific events. An Organiser will notify you of any availability.

Join us for a fantasy shoot along the banks of the River Kelvin in Glasgow's West End.This is a fabulous location for an ethereal fantasy shoot with waterfalls, bridges, brilliant foliage and old relics as our backdrop. We can capture the atmosphere with our Model/s in fantasy costume and flowing gowns.
If the weather proves inclement we can take the shoot to the dramatic 'Harry Potteresque Cloisters' of Glasgow University or even the Govan Old Parish Church with it's dramatic Victorian Gothic Architecture. All great venues for a splendid fantasy shoot.
On the day we will be working on no more than a 1:3 model to photographer ratio (usually less).You will have access to lighting including flash and continuous lighting and light modifiers. Feel free to bring along any equipment you would like to use at the shoot.Although not strictly a tutored shoot, an expert will be on hand to help with setup and advise. The event is suitable for those who are relatively new to model shoots as well as more seasoned photographers.

This event is August from 13:30 to 18:30. On the day we will meet at the Kibble Palace in the Botanic garden and make our way to the Kelvin walkway. if you misus just take a right after the kibble and follow the sign for teh walkway. You will see usalong the path.
