This is lake country and a small boater’s paradise. Nine connecting lakes will be the center of your adventures at Chain O’Lakes. Paddle through the chain of serene kettle lakes, hike the 23 miles of forested trails, fish the electric-motors-only lakes, stay overnight in a forested hillside family cabin, visit the park’s historic one-room Stanley Schoolhouse, or explore the Nature Center. Other facilities available for visitors to enjoy include a campground, beach, and picnic shelters.

2 Kayak Trail Challenge
The paddle challenge will take you on two interactive kayak trails exploring the park and lake. Trail 1 has five spots along the north end of the lake and Trail 2 has six spots along the south end of the lake. Each spot has a sign with a unique symbol to represent a special feature at Summit Lake. Scan the QR code on the sign to learn more about the feature and take pictures of all the signs along the trail to complete the trail. Once you’ve completed both trails, you’ll be eligible to purchase 2 Kayak Trail Challenge merchandise at the park office.

Chain O' Lakes is part of the Indiana Birding Trail
The thirteen lakes, channels connecting nine of the lakes, and rolling hills that form the 2,700-acre park are the result of advancing glaciers followed by glacial melt more than 10,000 years ago. Over 20 miles of trails winding through heavy forest, along lake shorelines, and past areas of regenerating forest provide visitors with a dizzying number of birding options.
