Challenge 2025: The Welsh 3000s in one go!

This year's group challenge is the Welsh 3000s in one go! Achievable by most people in the group if you put the training in.

The Welsh 3000s is a route encompassing the 15 x 3000ft peaks of Wales including Snowdon, Crib Goch, Tryfan, the Glyders and a few on the Carneaddau. The route is over 40km long and involves 3000m of ascent so it will a long day!

It will be an early start on the Saturday to get to Pen-y-pas (wake up is 0400) to do the Snowdon section, including Crib Goch. We drop into Nant Peris (Ceunant hut) for a refresh and refuel. Next is Elidir Fawr and the Glyders finishing with Tryfan before reaching Ogwen Cottage and a waiting car or cars!

Next is the Carneddau and the rest of the peaks before finishing the route on Foel Fras. Slight problem is the 2 hour walk out to a vehicle!

This weekend will be led by Phil who is a qualified and experienced Mountain Leader and has completed the Welsh 3000s a number of times. We will also have a support team of 2 people (with cars) who will drop off and collect us plus keep us fed and watered.

The cost is £100 plus the stupid fee from PayPal/Meetup (£25 RSVP and £75) as the volunteer support team go free.

Our accommodation is the Ceunant hut in Nant Peris, which is ideal for a bacon butty post Snowdon section.

You will need:

• To have attended at least 1 Welsh 3000s training weekend
• Sleeping bag and pillow as you will want to sleep!
• Hill food for a very long day
• Food you want provided/heated at the re-supply stops x 2 (Apparently beef Chow Mein is good)
• Good footwear/multiple footwear
• Spare socks for 2nd re-supply point
• Clothing for warm or hot weather
• Clothing for cold wet weather
• A really good head torch
• Grit, resilience and espirit d'corps :-)
