Monday's Scenic Sunset Stroll in Badlands Park

Join Susan and Randy for a relaxed scenic sunset stroll in Badlands Park.

ABOUT THE HIKE: Badlands Park provides a mix of steep canyon plant life, gnarled geologic formations, an ancient beach, and stunning views of the coastline and ocean. All of this is contained in an out and back beginner hike of approximately three miles with approximately 200 feet of elevation gain/loss. The total hike time will be a hour plus at a relaxed pace. The sandstone cliffs next to the trail line an ancient beach that is 10 million years old and now looms 780 feet above sea level. The views from this trail on a clear day extend east to Catalina Island, south to Camp Pendleton and north to Palos Verdes. The hike is listed by "OC Weekly" as OC's "Best Nature Trail." The hike is dog friendly. There are no restrooms in Badlands Park.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: From I 5... take the Alicia Parkway exit... drive 5.9 miles... turn right on Pacific Island Drive... proceed 1.7 miles and turn right on Ocean Way... proceed .2 miles turn and turn left on Isle Vista... park on Isle Vista and walk to the Badlands Park entry next to the Monarch Point gate house.
