Sunset Hike on the Aliso Summit Trail from Seaview Park

Details
ABOUT THE HIKE: We hike from Seaview Park to the Aliso Summit Trail, a little known gem discretely perched on the steep cliffs of Aliso Canyon. This smooth, wide trail is tucked behind the gated community of Coronado Pointe (location of the recent tragic wild fire) in Laguna Niguel. It borders the east boundary of Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park. The serpentine trail follows the 800-foot-high cliffs on the east rim of the canyon. Throughout the hike we see spectacular views of the stream-fed Aliso Canyon, the Pacific Ocean, and South O.C.
The hike is 4 plus miles out/back, along a mostly dirt truck trail. Plan on about 90 minutes of total hiking time at a relaxed pace.
200 ft. elevation gain - it is mostly up/down/up/down along the bluff side trail.
ADDITIONAL NOTES: The trail is dog friendly. There are no rest room facilities on the trail or in the park.
DIRECTIONS TO THE HIKE: From the 405 Freeway, take Alicia Parkway toward the ocean, right on Pacific Island, and right on Talavera Drive. Proceed to the end of Talavera and park on the street. Look for the meetup at the Seaview Park entrance, next to the gate entry to Laguna Sur. See map pin.
