What we’re about

Welcome to Strictly Shoujo!

According to Sakura's original definition, shoujo means "cute girly girls doing cute girly things", but she will not remove otomen out of the picture. In fact, they are very welcome to join us! Together we will analyze shoujo genre and explore what we love about it. We might bake cookies, make our own cosplay or fashion clothing, make Valentine's Day chocolates, sew stuffed animals, make jewelry, dress up, be glamorous, go to anime conventions, draw manga, play a bit of doubutsu shogi, or shop at some handicraft markets, but last but not least, gossip about anime tropes and ship our favorite characters together while enjoying afternoon tea! Basically everything sugar, spice and everything nice. Feel free to join us for the love of maiden heart! 💗

Personally I respect male cross-dressers and admire their courage, but due to complications with using the restroom please do not arrive to the meetup as a full fledged lolita or the like. Something subtle is okay, like a bow hair clip can be super cute. This is not an LGBTQ+ community, so I won't be able to be of service to yaoi or yuri enthusiasts. And as a warning, if you do anything fishy or violate my members or the general public during my meetup, I will report you to the police. For my members, if you were harmed in any way by other members of the group, don't be afraid to speak up. I will try to make the activities as fun as possible, and feel free to give me any suggestions.

Lots of Love,
Sakura Sakura Miyoko (Risette is my French name)

The Origins

Risette/Sakura grew up in the suburbs where everyone else was wearing aesthetically bland but expensive Quiksilver, Vans, Converse shoes, and Jansport bags. What a boring world! She wants to make the world a better and happier place, starting with herself. That's why she has a passion for handicrafts, art, and baking, as they have healing effects on the craftsman.

Another thing is Sakura Sakura Miyoko in Taiwanese means "loafer", and this name amuses her. She dedicates her time to combining negative labels in society, such as "otaku", "rice bug", "strawberry clan", and "sakura sakura miyoko", and casting them into a positive light. She's bringing these people together so no one would be ashamed for liking anime and feel welcomed.
