The group will organise not only walking meets but a variety of social events too. So if you are looking to have fun, get fit, and meet a welcoming bunch of people, then this is the ideal group for you!
Membership
Forth Valley Young Walkers are part of Ramblers Scotland; a charity who promote walking throughout Scotland. People who wish to walk regularly with us must join as a Ramblers member. Membership costs £36.60 a year and there are lots of great benefits, including access to hundreds of free walks in the UK, priority on some walks, access to our away weekends, as well as discount at Cotswold Outdoors.
New group members can come along up to 3 times before deciding if they want to join the Ramblers. You will be asked if you are a Ramblers member when you join our group, and when you sign up for walks.
You can join online by visiting the Ramblers Scotland page @ https://www.ramblers.org.uk/become-a-member/join-us.aspx
**PLEASE NOTE that priority may be given to Ramblers members**
Safety
All members must take responsibility for their own safety while on the walks. Our event organisers are very experienced, confident walkers and will ensure that any/all accidents are prevented where possible, but personal responsibility is key.
All walkers should have a good pair of walking boots, waterproofs, rucksack and warm layers as a minimum unless otherwise stated by the walk organiser. The weather in Scotland is highly unpredictable and you should come prepared for all weather conditions even if it is sunny at the start of the day! If you attend in jeans, trainers, sandals or other inappropriate clothing, you will most likely not be allowed on the walk, especially if it is a potential risk to the group.
No shows/wait list
No shows and last minute cancellations result in other group members missing out on walks, so we give Forth Valley Young Walkers Group Ramblers priority access to our walks. New members on their first 3 walks will also have priority. No shows and late cancellations will result in you being moved to the waitlist in future, and removed from the group if you continue to cancel last minute or fail to attend.
Code of Conduct: we will NOT accept
-Aggressive or abusive behaviour
-Offensive comments or jokes
-Bullying or harassment
-Unsolicited advances/contact (including in-person, text, calls, Whatsapp, email)
Photographs
Photographs which are published on Meetup may be used on Social Media sites and for marketing, so if you are uncomfortable with this, please ensure you let the event organiser know.
Keep a close eye on the group and make sure you have notifications from Meetup enabled; walks fill up fast once they are posted. We hope to see you on a walk very soon!
