Space Coast Paddling Society

We will meet at the Kayak Launch on the north side of Haulover Canal. After crossing over the canal bridge take your first left. Take the road west all the way to the end and the Luanch area.

We will Luanch at 8:30 am. Paddle up the canal to Mosquito lagoon then back up the canal and explore some mangrove channels where in the past we have seen some big gators, then out to Bird Island. A protected bird nesting area for pelicans, roseate spoonbills and more.

As always all are welcome to gather for lunch afterwards.

Bring your PFD,
whistle, water, bug spray, sunscreen and snacks.

It is time to go back to Blue Cypress Lake near Vero Beach. This is a Osprey nesting area, in which between March and June. Hundreds of Osprey come to have their young. Beautiful, off the beaten path, Blue Cypress Lake is the largest lake in the Treasure Coast and Indian River County. Public access is a small park operated by Indian River County and named after the late fishing guide Joe Middleton, who ran Middleton Fish Camp. The shoreline is studded with hundreds of spectacular bald cypress trees strung with Spanish moss, some of which grow quite a distance out into the lake. Meet at the boat ramp at Middleton Fish Camp on the West side of the lake. Paddles in the water at 9:00 am.

Bring PFD, whistle, water, bug spray, sunscreen, and snacks.

As always, all are welcome to gather for lunch after our paddle, at the Marsh Landing restaurant in Fellsmere.

This is a favorite trip, so let's do it again before the snowbirds descend upon us! Paddles wet at 9 am sharp. Clear waters around Peanut Island allows for great snorkeling. The island is very small and accessible only by boat. It has a walking trail
around the perimeter,
so we can paddle to the
island, beach for awhile to do some snorkeling,
have a picnic, take a
walk, paddle some more, snorkel some
more, etc., etc. Bring
some snacks/drinks/sunscreen/PFD/gear. It will be a laid back day! The launch area is at Bicentennial Park in Riviera Beach. There is a nice Tiki bar in the parking area where we'll get some lunch and refreshments before going home.
