What we’re about

There is a widowed community here at Soaring Spirits International that can offer you understanding, friendship, inspiration, and encouragement as you learn to live without the person with whom you intended to spend the rest of your life. Widowed people created Soaring Spirits because we discovered that connecting with other widowed people made the challenges of surviving a spouse or partner a little easier to manage. Soaring Spirits San Doego Regional group meets twice per month at various locations throughout the city. Events are open to anyone who has lost a partner: people of all genders of any age, from all faiths and traditions, without regard for relationship status, sexual preference or identification, or parenting status.

As a first step please register at our parent site widowedvillage.org. From there, submit the general Rsvp from the San Diego Regional group to be added to our Evite mailing list or be approved here.

This event is open to family and friends! We will meet at 12:00 noon to get seated together and settled in. Please note there is free skating after the event on the flat track rink. Skate rentals are $2.00

6:00pm Derby Event Ends – All Ages Public Skate continues until 8pm

We hope you can join us for this hard hitting roller derby event at our outdoor facility here in San Diego, CA. Bringing sport, empowerment, and entertainment to Encanto has become a source of pride for Derby United. We are incredibly enthusiastic about sharing the love of roller derby and our core values of athleticism, empowerment, inclusion, and respect.

During every banked track game this season, there will be a public skate taking place on our smooth outdoor, concrete rink on the other side of the property at the same time. Join us for the bout and stay to skate at no extra charge. A roller derby bout, public skate and quad rentals all included for your ticket price!

$18 Event Admission – Includes free entry to Public Skating Session the same day at Ringer’s

*All ages must pay entry to participate in Public Skating Session

Derby United Headquarters is at Ringer’s Roller Rink, a one-of-a-kind two-acre outdoor recreational skating facility. It is advised that spectators wear sun protection for daytime events. Conversely, the temperature may cool down rapidly after sunset. Dress accordingly for afternoon and evening events. Bleachers & seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. No outside chairs are permitted. No outside food or beverage is permitted. Game day refreshments sold on site. Beer will be served and benefiting the community non-profit Roll Out Inc.

There is a limited amount of on-site parking. Free street parking on Federal Blvd., 60th St and the surrounding neighborhood. For a larger event like bout day, please be prepared to park several blocks away. Please respect our neighbors and obey all posted parking and traffic signs both inside and outside the facility.

NO PETS ARE PERMITTED AT THE FACILITY. Trained service animals always welcome.

Bud's is a well kept San Diego secret, a treasure hidden in a Kearny Mesa business park. Our group RAVED about their food and service when we visited last year and insisted we not wait too soon before visiting again!

This is a widowed only event.
Please plan for outdoor seating, just in case.
Head to the ATM and bring cash in case they won't do separate checks.
