Enjoy a morning May hike along the shoreline of Belmont Bay at Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Prince William County, Virginia. Characterized by ponds, meadows, open marshlands, and views of the distant Potomac River, Occoquan Bay is known for a large population of bald eagles often seen flying overhead. Hiking distance: 5 miles over an excellent trail system including a stretch of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail. Bring a day pack, hiking boots, trail snacks, lunch, and a quart of water. Meet at 9:30AM at the large parking lot at the end of Dawson Beach Road in Woodbridge, Virginia.
