OCC Highland Lakes Campus hike

Details
The purpose of this hike (besides having fun!) is to raise awareness about efforts to save the Luellen R Woughter Nature Reserve (part of the OCC Highland Lakes Campus).
Schedule:
1:00pm: meet for an update on the state of the property.
1:15pm: 3 mile hike (with options to turn back sooner) through the Luellen R Woughter Nature Reserve.
After the hike: there is an optional gathering at the Redwood Bar & Grill located near the campus for food and further conversation. They have the best ribs and soup in town! We hope to see you there!
NOTE: This is a joint conservation activity. It is not an official Sierra Club event.
Background:
Many may not know that the Oakland Community College Highland Lakes Campus is closing and the property is being sold. In fact, some of the property has already been sold to Waterford Parks and Recreation and will be re-purposed as a Community Center (a big win). The rest of the property had an offer from Oakland County Parks and Recreation. The offer was not accepted. (we do not understand why the offer was not accepted) There is nature worth preserving here known as the Luellen R Woughter Nature Reserve. We are having this event to help raise awareness of our goal to keep this property for public use and out of the hands of developers. There is a big story behind this endeavor, and we need lots of support. More information can be found at [COWLmich.org](https://www.cowlmich.org/) .
