Gertrude's Nose at Minnewaska Park

This is a 6.7 -mile hike with 1,300 feet elevation gain. This hike will take about 4.5 hours. We will meet in the upper lot near the Visitor’s Center at 9:15 AM at Lake Minnewaska, 5281 Route 44-55, Kerhonkson, NY. We will begin the hike promptly at 9:30 AM. Again, the Visitor's Center is located in the upper parking lot (turn left after entering park). If you park in the lower lot you will have a long walk up the hill and likely miss the hike. Entry to park is $10 per car, free with the Empire Park Pass. We will follow the Lake Minnewaska Carriage Road along the eastern section of the lake where we will pick up a difficult section of the hike, the Millbrook Mountain Footpath. At Millbrook Mountain we will continue on to Gertrude’s Nose. We will break for lunch at Gertrude's Nose. We will continue on the Gertrude’s Nose Footpath to the Millbrook Mountain Carriage Road. Then continue on until the Lake Minnewaska Carriage Road to the Visitor’s Center.

treking poles
sturdy hiking shoes, boots or approach shoes
