Monthly Video Meetup: July

We're past the 2023 halfway point month-wise. Yikes. But, along with that halfway point we're going to continue the trend of 2023 being The Year of MOQ with an excellent talk from an out of town visitor, Ali!

🗣️ Ali C. Begen - This Little MOQ Maneuver’s Gonna Cost Us 51 Milliseconds
OTT live sports has led sports broadcasting to a new level. Yet, there are still some challenges. For example, nobody wants to hear a neighbor’s cheers when a goal is scored before seeing it on the screen, making low-latency transport and playback indispensable. Synchronization among all viewing devices and social media feeds is also essential. The IETF recently started developing a QUIC-based low-latency delivery solution for media ingest and distribution. The Media-over-QUIC work is still in its infancy but could be a game-changer. In this talk, we will discuss the architectural design issues and present preliminary results from our implementation.

⚡️ Maybe you? - Lightning talks?
A few months ago we did impromptu lightning talks and I thought it was extremely fun, so can we get that rolling again this month?! Just one or two, ~5 minutes with no pressure. You can let me know if you're raising your hand ahead of time just so we've got a heads up.

IRL Logistics
Our host building has security people downstairs, and they require us to have a list of names downstairs for check-in. Just to make sure we can have everyone printed out, please make sure to RSVP by ~5pm on Thursday.

Mux put together a page on details for getting in, COVID protocols, etc. Everyone needs to be fully vaccinated and there are specific check-in instructions on the page.
