PM GLOWS (Green Lake Open Water Swims)

Details
Join us for a evening swim in Green Lake! This event is for experienced open water swimmers ONLY!
๐ Start time: 6:00 PM check-in and get suited up, 6:30pm toes in the water.
๐ Location: We meet at the bench/cove just north of the lifeguard area on WEST Green Lake Beach (What3Words app = reef.puppy.handle).
โฑ๏ธ Duration: We'll stick around for an hour of swimming, but you don't have to swim that entire time - the time/distance you go is up to you!
๐ Route: Swim across Green Lake with lake buoys/landmarks for approx. distances of 440 yd (1/4 mile), 880 yd (1/2 mile), 1300 yd (3/4 mile) and 1760 yd (1 mile). Swim for any distance you like in the hour (easily swim up to 1 mile non-stop).
Equipment and Safety:
- A brightly colored swim cap and swim buoy are required for safety/visibility.
- In order to participate in any Seattle Triathlon Group event, you must sign our electronic waiver. Waivers only need to be signed once per calendar year or if your contact info has changed. As this is early season, if you participated in an event with us in 2024 you likely still have an active waiver from last year - you can login to your account at https://www.seattletri.org/dashboard to check. I will only be accepting electronic waivers - please complete the waiver ahead of time! No waiver, no swim!
- Our Open Water Swims (OWS) are non-lifeguarded, swim-at-your-own-risk events. As such, it is imperative that you be certain of your comfort level and ability to OWS. These are not designed for, nor should they be used for learning how to swim, or for inexperienced open water swimmers. An inexperienced OWS is a danger to themselves, and those around them. If you are not certain about your OWS capabilities, we suggest practicing at a lifeguarded swim beach or at a event designated for beginning open water swimming.
- There is NO guarantee of access to changing rooms/lockers, or gear watch on the beach.
- A swim buoy with a dry pouch is useful to bring your phone and keys with you on the swim.
- A wet suit is highly recommended. The wet suit is especially helpful early in the season but is not necessary.
Please feel free to ask any questions in the comments.
Thanks and Tri On!
