Heybrook Lookout and Ridgeline too (Rescheduled April 27th!) Fun exploring!

Starting at the Heybrook Lookout Trailhead we'll enjoy a moderate incline into a dense fern, moss and lichen covered forest. The trail levels out soon enough and then at just under a mile we'll reach the very majestic lookout tower and climb it! Along the way there can be great views, and on our way down we'll find together the exciting hidden connector trail to Heybrook Ridge Trail. Next we'll traverse the Ridgeline for a mile to reach Bridal Veil Falls Viewpoint. Then head back.

Afterwards, attendees can optionally meet some of us at the Heybrook Ridge Trailhead (a short drive around to the rustically beautiful town of Index) and hike up to the Bridal Veil Falls Viewpoint from the other side! This adds another 3.2 miles, 1000 ft. gain and just under two hours to the hike.

This is a great starting moderately challenging hike for the season with a distance of ~4 miles and ~1000 ft. of elevation gain. We'll be making friends, staying fit, being polite and having fun!

We will first meet at the Wilburton P&R. Carpooling is encouraged but you are also welcome to meet us at the Heybrook Lookout Trailhead (47.80834, -121.53489).

Length: 4 miles, roundtrip, out and back (7.2 miles with full Ridge trail)
Elevation Gain: 1,000 feet (2000 ft. with full Ridge trail)
Difficulty: Moderate
Location: East of Monroe, near Index WA. Road is all highway.
Elevation: 1800 ft.
Snow: None; trail is a little muddy in places.

Parking Permit
No parking permit is required.

Attendance
We try to keep our group size to around 10 - 20 (more or less) as a courtesy to other hikers on the trail, and to reduce crowds and cars in the parking lot. The Going list may have a larger number to accommodate no-shows.

Folks on the Wait list may not attend until they are moved to the Going list. When folks drop from the Going list, people are added from the Wait list.

Carpooling
We will limit total attendees while drivers are selected from the Wait list. Drivers will be placed first as Going, and then we will fill with passengers as space allows, so everyone who comes to the P&R has a ride to the trail.

Riders MUST reimburse drivers for gas. Reimburse a minimum of $40 if one rider, $20 for two riders, $15 for three riders. Cash is preferred, or Venmo or Zelle.

Schedule
7:20 am: Meet at the Wilburton P&R. Feel free to bring coffee and breakfast.
7:30 am: Drive to Heybrook Lookout Trailhead (47.80834, -121.53489).
~ 9:00 am: Arrive at trailhead
~ 4 hours of hiking with stops for food, photos
~ 1:00 pm: Back at trailhead
~ 3:00 pm: Arrive back at Wilburton P&R (later if stopping for food)
