Nestled in the breathtaking Chaffee County, between the majestic Collegiate Peaks and the Arkansas River, Buena Vista is the perfect spot to unwind in nature’s beauty. Our adventure will be based in Nathrop, where we'll enjoy the peaceful, mountain-town vibe. Get ready for a weekend full of outdoor fun and relaxation!
Where We’re Staying:
We’ll be camping at Chalk Creek Campground, with options for tent spaces, RV spaces, and even cozy cabins. We’ve reserved an RV in the lower camping area, but you’ll need to book your own spot early to guarantee availability.
You are responsible for making your own reservations.

RV Spaces: $56 to $76 per night
Tent Spaces: $25 to $35 per night
Cabins: $150 per night

Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, there’s a perfect river trip for you.

Explore a variety of trails from easy hikes to tackling 14ers!

Explore mountain Passes like Cotton Wood, Trout Creek, Monarch, Marshall
· Four Wheeling
Jeep, Motorcycle, ATV and Side by side rentals are available for an off-road adventure.
· Ghost Towns
Take a step back in time by visiting St. Elmo, Iron City, Romley
· Fishing
Cast a line for brown and rainbow trout on the Arkansas River.
Events:
If you have a strong interest in an event, please post what you would like to do, and we can set up a plan and reservations before the trip.
Friday:
Check-in at campground and set up.
5:00 – Potluck and Campfire (Please bring something to share if you are interested in joining in). Meet, greet, and make plans for Saturday. I will post site # on the day of check-in.
Saturday:
We’ll split off based on everyone’s interest for the day’s activities. You can choose to hike, raft, visit hot springs, or anything else that catches your eye!
WHAT TO BRING:
- Camping gear: chair, tent, cooking equipment, bug spray, etc.
- Enough food for yourself & to share if you wish for the weekend
- Water: Stay hydrated!
- Swimsuit, towel, hat, sunscreen
- Firewood (optional)

This event is at your own risk. I’m not a professional guide, so by signing up, you acknowledge that you’re responsible for your own safety. But don’t worry, this weekend is all about fun, adventure, and enjoying the great outdoors!
