Copper Mountain - Leadville - Vail Loop w/ Turquoise Lake (Challenge Series)

Details

This road loop is part of the RMCC Challenge Series (https://www.rockymountaincyclingclub.com/rmcc-challenge-series).

Commonly known as the "Copper Triangle" or the "Leadville Loop", this ride is, for many people, the best ride on the RMCC calendar every year. Doing this route with the club is something to definitely put on your calendar!

For those who don't know, this route takes in Fremont, Vail, and Tennessee Passes and is one of the most scenic rides you can do anywhere. The full Challenge Series route also adds in the enjoyable/challenging/quiet loop around Turquoise Lake outside of Leadville.

The Copper Triangle loop is 80 miles with about 6500 feet of climbing; adding Turquoise Lake makes it a century and 8300 feet.

We will meet the trailhead just past the Conoco in Copper Mountain--exit highway 91, turn left at the light, then continue all the way to the end of the service road.

Regroup Points:

  1. Shell in Leadville (mile 22)
  2. Shop-n-Hop in Minturn (mile 71/52)

This should be considered a drop ride although we will regroup on a periodic basis.

Non-dues-paying members are welcome and invited to join us on any ride! After three rides we do require that you join the club: https://www.rockymountaincyclingclub.com/rmcc-membership-application-form
