Camping & Glamping at the Manor

Camping at a new campsite for us on the Frome River in Wiltshire. We will have campfires and barbecues. The campsite is just 3 miles from the historic town of Bradford on Avon. Campsite is on a medieval manor which serves cream teas every afternoon. Nearby are castles, manors, and a river swimming venue.
On Friday afternoon we will explore the local village and partake of the cream teas at the manor. Pizza café at campsite and campfire later.
On Saturday we plan a 10-mile walk from site along the Frome River and Kennett & Avon Canal. We will walk to Farleigh Hungerford Castle, built in 14th century with much remaining. English Heritage site. Then we continue on a river path to Freshford. This market town has lots of history including mills and riverside pubs. We continue along the Kennett & Avon Canal to Avoncliffe and its 18th century aqueduct. Then to Bradford on Avon which has many medieval and Tudor buildings to explore, plus award winning tea shops. Route back to site across meadows and farms. Option to short cut from Avoncliffe direct to campsite. Barbecue and campfire in the evening.
On Sunday we can try the river swimming (bring costumes) at the club, which has changing rooms. Then the plan is to visit the nearby market town of Frome which has its summer arts festival taking place. Frome has many historic quarters with the festival taking place in the market squares.

Self-catering on site. Pizza pop-up café at site. Lots of pubs and shops on walks.
Travel
Nearest stations are Bradford on Avon and Trowbridge (3 miles from venue). Local buses from station.
Glamping Option - nearby B & B , plus Railway carriage for hire at campsite.
Cost of event, £44 per person for 2 nights camping. Includes 2 guided walks, and option to borrow tents etc. Cost includes contribution for all gas and wood purchased for cooking & campfires plus all other incidental expenses. Cost also includes full group membership for 12 months, all day walks free for all members for whole 12 month period. Reduced price for existing members.
