See all- Python Founders Talks: Distributed Tracing with PythonThe University of Adelaide, Adelaide
Hi Adelaide Pythonistas,
I am excited to announce the last meeting for 2024 !
This meeting we have the honor to have Matt who started this meetup back in 2017.
It is going to be about -> Beyond Logging: Harnessing Distributed Tracing in Python with OpenTelemetry.
Speaker:
Matt Magin : Staff + Software Engineer, with a focus on distributed backend engineering, using Go, Python, NodeJS, and anything else that's needed.
If you're still relying on endless logs to track down issues in your microservices, it’s time to upgrade your toolkit.
In this talk, we’ll dive into distributed tracing, explaining why it’s a game-changer for monitoring modern, distributed systems. We’ll cover the basics: what distributed tracing is, why it’s essential for deeper insights, and how it outshines the limitations of traditional logging. Finally, we’ll walk through how to instrument your Python apps with OpenTelemetry, so you can trace requests across services with precision and confidence. By the end, you might just find your logs taking a backseatWhere:
