SMART Recovery Meetings are no-cost, non-12 step recovery support meetings. SMART Recovery is an alternative to traditional Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) peer support groups. SMART Recovery helps participants learn and practice cognitive-behavioral skills so they can achieve sobriety and/or abstain from any addictive substance or behavior.
At meetings, participants help one another resolve problems with any addiction (to drugs or alcohol, or to addictive behaviors such as gambling or over-eating). Participants find and develop the power within themselves to change their relationship with alcohol, drugs, and other addictive behaviors. The goal of recovery is not to "stop" doing something - but to develop a fulfilling, balanced life that one doesn't wish to escape from.
We achieve this goal by learning and practicing tools from our science-based, sensible 4-Point Program®.
4-Point SMART Recovery Program:
1. Building and Maintaining Motivation
2. Coping with Urges
3. Managing Thoughts, Feelings, and Behaviors
4. Living a Balanced Life
Trained meeting facilitators will lead the group in learning and applying cognitive behavioral tools to sustain and enhance their personalized recovery journey.
