Code Reviews can sometime be painful and time-consuming, but they are an important part of delivering quality software. A Code Review provides an opportunity to share knowledge, improve code and catch potential problems before they go to production. This can be a positive experience or a negative experience.

In this session, David will discuss the importance of Code Reviews and show some ways you can make your code reviews more productive, enjoyable, and successful.

Building distributed applications can be a challenging undertaking for developers, regardless of their skill level. It comes along with an extensive list which includes concerns like figuring out communication patterns, choosing the right storage mechanisms, handling observability, and determining how configuration will get applied throughout all the parts of the application. It can become even more challenging to set up an environment with all the dependencies to build and debug locally.

In this session, we’re going to take a look at .NET Aspire and learn how it can make developing distributed applications much easier for .NET developers. We will review some of the parts that make up the .NET Aspire stack and get an understanding of how they fit together. We will also see how Aspire can work alongside other tools and platforms in the cloud native space.

**Demo: Deploying AKS Store Application using Azure Open AI**

Roy Kim will show case the deployment of a microservices based Online Store application and Azure Open AI on an Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) cluster. Roy will show a deep dive of the Kubernetes YAML configuration of the AI service, the Python code and its use the Semantic Kernel. The objective it to show a realistic scenario of how the technology stack comes together.

**Roy Kim** is a Solutions Architect and developer focused on Azure and Microsoft 365. In recent years, has been supporting designing and building solutions in Azure for large enterprise. **Basic machine Learning Algorithms - Simon Painter:**

AI and Machine Learning are all the rage these days, and rightly so. They are as close as it gets to actual Magic in the computing world. It seems like there's nothing you can't do with them.

In this talk, I'm going to try and de-mystify Markov Chains - one of the basic algorithms and show exactly how they're used. Among other things, I'll show you how you can use them to:

\* Model and replicate systems with a continuous set of states
\* Choose the best move in a popular family board game
\* Write an entire new novel by Jane Austen

And much, much more. I'm a Microsoft developer, so all code samples will be in either C# or even Excel!

**About Simon:**

Simon has been working as a .NET developer for over 16 years now in a variety of industries including government, retail and manufacturing. But I've been hacking around with computer code since I was old enough to read my Dad's copy of the ZX Spectrum BASIC coders manual.

Simon speaks about Functional C# at various user groups and conferences around the UK, USA, Europe and Australia and am particularly interested in seeing just how far we can push C# without breaking it.

In 2023 he released my first technical book: "Functional Programming with C#", published by O'Reilly Media.

When he's not coding, or running after my two small children, I have been known to enjoy the classic series of Doctor Who, Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks, Cryptic Crosswords, and rather more coffee than is probably good for me.

In this talk from Peter, you’ll learn about using XAML with .NET using Windows Presentation Foundation and Windows App SDK for Windows desktop applications along with .NET MAUI for cross-platform applications. You’ll find out about some the differences and similarities when using XAML when creating .NET applications for Windows desktop or cross-platform including a demo showing this along with some of the latest features of .NET 8.
