For our next session we will start a new work by Heidegger from the 1930s, his Parmenides, which we expect to complete over 3 sessions. Besides the introduction to Parmenides famous philosophic poem, Heidegger here treats the Greek concept of truth as Aletheia or "unconcealment", contrasting it with the understanding of truth as the correctness of judgments. He also illustrates the original meaning of "Lethe" to the Greeks with an interpretation of the famous afterlife story at the end of Plato's Republic.
For our first session, we will read through the end of section 3 of part 1, to the end of the discussion of "pseudos" ("the false"), 57 pages in our translation.
Please also note that I've moved the time to 1 hour earlier, which will hopefully be more convenient for our US east coast and European attendees.

Previous familiarity with Heidegger will be helpful but is not required. As always newcomers are welcome; feel free to bring your questions.
