What we’re about
This group is for people that like to have fun and adventure in the great outdoors; hiking in the foothills and mountains, camping, funyaking on the French Broad, whitewater rafting on the Nolichucky, biking the Virginia Creeper, outdoor live music, backpacking, spelunking and more. The hikes I lead will be rated either "Moderate", "Difficult" or "Strenuous" and most are what I would call aerobic hiking, but with lots of short stops to appreciate what Mother Nature has to show us! I'm open to others leading easier hikes and making suggestions. An example of "Moderate" would be the Lake Norman State Park "Lake Shore Trail" with one rest/food stop in the middle and some short water breaks etc. I've had several Red Cross first aid courses over the years, including the outdoor trauma course. JOIN US FOR SOME FUN!
If you have an idea then post it or send me a message!

- Morrow Mountain State Park Hike- +/- 8-9 MilesMorrow Mountain State Park, Albemarle, NC
We will be doing a difficult +/- 8-9 mile hike but not a too fast of a pace as I am recovering from a broken leg. We will do the Sugarloaf and Morrow Mountain trails.
Morrow Mountain is one of the highest peaks in the Uwharrie Mountains of central North Carolina. These pinnacles are the remains of one of the oldest mountain ranges in the eastern United States. The park contains several peaks, of which Morrow Mountain is a high point at 936 feet.
In addition to the mountains, the park also contains the Yadkin-Pee Dee River, one of central North Carolina's largest river systems. The river can be seen from the overlook atop Morrow Mountain.
We will meet in front of the main Park Office/Visitors Center.
Bring water and a trail lunch or snack. We will stop for lunch. There are restrooms at the trailhead.
There is no cell service in the park so make sure you confirm ahead of time where we are meeting.
After the hike, we will stop at Uwharrie Brewing in Albemarle on the way home. 121 N 3rd St, Albemarle, NC 28001
