What we’re about
Think of our club like a book club....but with movies!
Vote for the movie you want to see, then join us after watching the movie on your own time. We discuss a variety of movies that span genres, decades, styles and national cinemas.
Most of our selections are streaming on Max, Netflix, Criterion Channel, Prime, Hulu, Paramount+ and other popular streaming platforms, but don't forget to consult with your local library.
We usually meet weekly on Saturday mornings at 11am EST along with biweekly discussions on Tuesday nights at 7:00pm EST.

See all- Apocalypse Now (1979) Film DiscussionLink visible for attendees
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
NOTE: Today, April 26th, 2025, Francis Ford Coppola will receive the 50th annual American Film institute (AFI) Lifetime Achievement Award. On the heels of receiving a number of career accolades (including a Kennedy Center Honor this past December) and the release of a new movie (Megalopolis, which wasn't good btw), Coppola's been in the news a lot lately. To honor this living legend, let's discuss one of his most famous movies: Apocalypse Now (1979). The making of this classic is the stuff of legends and there's so much to talk about with this one.Regarding which version of Apocalypse Now to watch...I would prefer you watch theatrical version (153 Minutes) and here's why: the film is more focused (from an editing and narrative perspective). The Redux version (202 Minutes) adds nearly an hour to the original and there's some things that work really well and other things that don't. There's at least two more versions available--First Assembly Version (289 Minutes) and Final Cut (182 Minutes)--that I have not seen (so I cannot compare them to the former two). But still check out whichever version of Apocalypse Now you wanna watch!
Join us at our next meeting where we will discuss Francis Ford Coppola's war film Apocalypse Now (1979) starring Marlon Brando, Martin Sheen, Robert Duvall, Dennis Hopper, Frederic Forrest, Larry Fishburne, and Harrison Ford. The film is available as a rental (original version; Redux version) on most streaming services starting at $3.99.
Please note that attendees will watch the film BEFORE attending this discussion.
