Upper Dungeness Trail to Camp Handy

This is a 6.5 mile, out and back, round-trip hike in the forest south of Sequim. This easy/moderate trail has only a 600 foot elevation gain/loss and follows the glacial fed Dungeness River. We will hike 3.2 miles to Camp Handy, stop for snacks, and turn around there. It's one of my favorite hikes in the area.
The long drive to the trailhead is partially on a very narrow dirt forest road with many potholes and some ruts. High clearance vehicles are best on this road, but 4- wheel drive is not required. Vault toilet available there.
Carpooling is encouraged as the trailhead parking lot fills up quickly. Be ready to leave the QFC store parking lot at 845am. PLEASE INDICATE IF YOU PLAN TO CARPOOL. You can message me in the app or make a comment in this posting. It will take a a little over one hour to drive from QFC to the trailhead.
If you plan to drive yourself, meet at the trailhead at 10am. Please read/copy the directions to get there as the Forest Service roads can be confusing.
Discover Pass not accepted for parking. America the Beautiful/National Park, Lifetime Senior, and Northwest Forest passes are accepted. Post on your dashboard.
Leashed dogs are allowed.
