What we’re about
New York has a long, rich history of night photography. William Fraser, Alfred Steiglitz, Edward Steichen and other great luminaries walked the same streets we do today, capturing some of the world's most notable low light photographs.
Join us after the sun goes down to explore what your camera is capable of when you leave the shutter open long enough. We'll re-explore familiar locations to see things in a new light and work with each other to light things in new ways.
Our goal is to follow the footsteps of the original Camera Club of New York around the turn of the previous century to collaborate and forge a community for the long term that can host group shows and work together to create new works. We plan on Meetups at least every other month and more if there is demand. Come out and spend the night with us.
Here's what you need:
• A camera with manual settings. Film, digital, whatever, we like them all.
• A tripod (not for every meetup though!)
• A remote for your camera, hopefully an intervalometer that can be programmed)
That's it. We're not looking only for DSLR people, we've seen amazing stuff come from Micro 4/3 point and shoots, so don't be ashamed of your gear!

See all- New Hampshire night painting paid workshopMunroe Center For the Arts, Lexington, MA$175.00
Sorry all, we had a date change to the next weekend. I've been trying to find a great location around New York for a light painting workshop, which is difficult due to the required darkness and interesting subjects. However, my friend Shehab found an incredible location in New Hampshire: 40 acres of cars at a private residence! This is designed with more education than most of the NYNP Meetups, we will meet in Lexington, Massachusetts for class instruction in the afternoon and then Shehab and I will drive you to the location for the shoot, as we have been asked to limit the amount of cars in the owner's driveway.

To clarify, there is a cost involved that will be paid on Shehab's site and you will need to make your own way to Lexington, Massachusetts for the workshop, but we have exclusive access to the timeless collection of machines set against the night sky provide every photographer with a guaranteed opportunity for an extraordinary creative experience. During the shoot we are at your disposal, our intent is to guide you through several setups of cars and provide practical instruction and inspiration but if you are more experienced we encourage exploration within a limited range of the property due to the size and lack of lighting. We are here for you in whatever capacity you are seeking.
Join us for an exclusive one night workshop where personalized attention and hands-on guidance will empower you to master your equipment and create breathtaking light-painted photographs. Surrounded by the serene beauty of the night sky, you'll refine your photography skills and build a stunning portfolio of night shots. Our unique access to the patinaed machines ensures an array of moonlit subjects perfect for light painting. This one-of-a-kind experience offers ample space for you to explore and express your creativity freely. Don't miss this opportunity to transform your nighttime photography.
You'll need a camera, camera remote to hold the shutter open, tripod, and a flashlight for wayfinding. We will bring lights, panels, light stands, and other lighting gear to demonstrate techniques and help create your vision in the night.
