Nottingham HF Rambling Club

What we will do: Arrive 10.15am for 10.30am start. Distance: 5/6 miles. A circular walk linking pleasant villages and one of the most famous stately homes in Nottinghamshire. There will be a coffee/lunch break half way round at the Newstead café, and/or at the Brooke Farm Café at the end. This walk is mainly on very quiet roads and tracks and should be suitable to be done in all weather conditions.

Directions by car: Meet in the car park at Brooke Farm, Main Street, Linby, Nottinghamshire, NG15 8AE
Directions by bus: StageCoach 141 from Nottingham Victoria Bus Station, stand 9. Buses once an hour. Best time is 9.30am bus arriving at Brooke Farm, Linby, 10.11am

Important to know: There are usually 10-15 people on these walks. A lot of the walkers will be club members and are not on the Meetup website.

Non-walkers are invited to join us for lunch. Please advise the organiser in advance.
What to bring: Please dress appropriately for a country walk. Wear proper walking boots, bring a rucksack with liquid refreshment and some waterproof clothes depending on the weather forecast for the day.

Long party: 10.5 miles. Calver, Stoney Middleton, Longstone Edge, Hassop, Pilsley, St. Mary's Wood, Calver. Medium party: 7.5 miles. Shorter version of the above. Short party: 6.5 miles. Shorter version of the above.
NB: There are usually 35-40 people on the coach. A lot of the walkers will be club members and are not on the Meetup website.
You MUST reserve your seat by phoning Gillian and David W on 0115 9568375. Please give your name, the date of the walk, your contact details and the pick-up point you will be at to get on the coach. The best time to phone is in the evening. If you turn up on the day without having booked a place on the coach we may have to turn you away. Please inform David & Gillian if you wish to CANCEL your booking not later than the Thursday before the walk. Signing up on meetup does not guarantee you a place without booking on the coach.
Picnic lunch for all parties. Fare £13 for club members and £15 for non-members to be paid on the coach in cash on the way back. Please bring the exact fare.
• What to bring: You will probably realise then that you need to bring good walking boots, waterproofs, and suitable clothing where necessary (depending on the weather forecast) as well as a rucksack when you come on a ramble with us. Don't forget to bring a packed lunch with you and some liquid refreshment. Please have a change of shoes or boot covers to keep the coach clean.
• Important to know: People can sign up for the next ramble on the coach coming back from the previous Sunday outing but other than that bookings open at 6pm on the Monday evening two weeks previous to each Sunday coach ramble.
There are also coach pick-up points at Keyworth Market Place (approx. 8.40am) and possibly Tollerton Lane if requested. Besides those advertised.

We will walk via the public footpaths leaving East Leake on West Leake Lane, the route to & from Sutton Bonnington is 8.5 miles & can be shortened to 5 miles by splitting at the Star Pub & returning via West Leake Village. There will be opportunities to buy food & drinks at either the Star for the shorter walk or The Kings Head for the longer walk, there is also a good community village store & cafe on the main Sutton Bonnington village street.
