May Walk

Details

Hello we are a new (ish) walking group in Norwich. The aim of the group is to get outside and take a walk, get the blood flowing, and hopefully boost our wellbeing. It’s been really helpful for me, and it’s a great way to meet new people while exploring a bit more of Norwich.

This time, we’ll meet outside St Gregory's Church in Pottergate, then head down to join the riverside walk. We’ll follow the river until we reach St Crispin’s Bridge. At that point, anyone who wants a shorter walk can turn down Oak Street, take a circular route past the White Lion pub, and then return to town.

For those continuing on, we’ll cross the roundabout and join Marriott’s Way, which is the start of the Marriott’s Way Walk. Marriott’s Way is a historic trail that follows the old railway line, running 26 miles all the way to Aylsham, though we’ll be walking only as far as Anderson’s Meadow. There, we’ll take a break, relax on the grass, and maybe have a snack if you want to bring something. After a bit of rest, we’ll head back into town.

I expect the walk will take about an hour to get there, followed by a 30-minute rest, and then about an hour to walk back. It’s probably best to plan for around 3 hours, just to allow some extra time. I’ll be at the meeting spot from 10:30 AM, but we won’t start walking until around 11:00 AM (or a little after 11, just to be on the safe side).

If you're new to the group, that’s me in my profile picture! And if you can’t make this one, no worries, we’ll be walking on the first Saturday of every month. Also thanks to everyone who came to the April walk!

All welcome :)
