What we’re about
Looking to get together with fellow casual board game fans in the Northwest side of the city and share in some board game fun from time to time. I have a pretty wide range of game types that I enjoy and I really like teaching/walking others on how to play games that I own as well as learning new ones. All skill levels/experience with board games are welcome.
I can envision rotating locations within these 8-ish neighborhoods: Edison Park, Norwood Park, Dunning Square, Montclare, Belmont Cragin, Portage Park, Jefferson Park, Forest Glen and have some locations (that offer light food/drink) already in mind. I’d envision that this group would all share in bringing games, but at a minimum, I’d commit to bringing some crowd-favorites from my modest, but growing, library:

Looking forward to sharing in some board game fun with others!
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Second "annual" 24 Board Game MarathonStay and Play Game Cafe, Chicago, IL
Last year's marathon was so much fun that we've decided to do it again here in 2025!
Jose will be playing board games for 24 hours on April 24th. If you'd like to join him in some board game fun, click here to register or scan the QR code in the image.
https://forms.gle/9XjMDAKGcWAXt9T76Can't break away from work that day? No problem, swing on by during our standard hours to join in on the fun! All game pass fees will be donated to the Chicago Children's Advocacy Center in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month!
Note: RSVPs are being currently being managed outside of Meetup, hence why I sent the attendee limit so low. However, feel free to add yourself to waitlist if interested in joining so as to receive additional updates as well as communicate (coordinate arrival times, games wanting to play, etc.) with one another.
- Learn Mahjong Basics on National Mahjong DayStay and Play Game Cafe, Chicago, IL
Ever want to learn how to play Mahjong? What better day to start than on National Mahjong Day?
Reserve your spot to learn American mahjong basics from fellow community fans of the game. Initially limiting this to 8, but jump on the waitlist if interested and I'll try to secure more instructors.
Cost to participate is the standard Stay and Play Game Cafe game pass fee ($15, but only $5 if $10 of food/drink is ordered).
Some resources for your consideration (not required, but I always find it easier to do some pre-work):
