Kayak Albany -
We will base camp at Chehaw Zoo/Campground. A very family friendly campground. Dad’s, it is Father’s Day weekend, bring those families with you! The zoo on-site is nice if you find some free-time.

NEWNAN PADDLERS - no
perks but this will hopefully keep us close to one another. Call for reservations-all types of accommodations are avail (primitive, 30/50 amp partial and full hook-ups as well as cabins).
The order isn’t set but the agenda is.
At this time these are all exploratory trips so we may encounter some portages due to dead-fall. I am in contact with the local outfitters and I may get a wild hair and go do some scouting before this trip happens.
***Everyone will be REQUIRED to wear a properly fastened PFD at all times while on the water! Safety First!
Friday: Paddle 9 miles on the Kinchafoonee Creek, a narrow winding creek with limestone banks. Hoping to see/find the cave, a blue hole and 2 waterfalls along this stretch. - Put-in at the 32 bridge, take-out at Suttons landing.
Saturday - 14 miles down Muckalee Creek. According to the Luke Bryan song; it flows underneath the 32 bridge. It cuts through the heart of south Georiga. Big copper heads, and mean wild pigs. And gator's in the weeds, waitin' for ya.
Put in at that 32 bridge and take-out at Cox landing.
Sunday - Flint River, paddle 10 miles from the put in at Radium Springs to the take-out at Punks landing. On this section of the Flint we have the opportunity to see the confluence of Radium springs, some blue holes and a sunken cotton barge - water level dependent. After the paddle we will go to the land side of Radium Springs, now known as Radium Springs gardens. Admire one of Georgia's seven natural wonders! Radium Springs Gardens pumps 70,000 gallons of clear, 68-degree water per minute from an underground cave. Stroll through a courtyard where the former Radium Springs Casino once stood, enjoy foliage-draped hillocks, crystal clear waters and flora both indigenous and exotic. The park features a restored terrace, new sidewalks, a casino garden and gazebos. Closes at 7pm.
Monday - will be a bike/land exploration day. We will ride along the riverfront greenway trail, enjoying the banks of the Flint while pedaling through the historic district with views of Turtle Grove Park and Ray Charles plaza. Options downtown include a small aquarium, a Heritage center and many food choices (I’ve been told Jimmy’s Hot Dogs is a must). If possible we will follow the rails to trails up to 10 miles one way - more research will go into this prior to event dates.
Side note - this will also be a farewell/best wishes party for one of our very own! Hope to SYOTR!
