What we’re about

Welcome, to everybody who loves cooking and food. We've been going for about 2 years here. I have a group of gamers who meet regularly, but would like to expand a bit. I've cancelled all gaming-related events, except for the Magic: The Gathering ones. You won't see RSVPs for these, but we usually have members from the same group of 4-10 people show up weekly. So if you play, do come over. The food is good and we're fun people.

Here are some of the types of events I've organized in the past (there is a still-active group up in Cleveland). If you'd be interested in trying any of these, or have a lead on some volunteer work, please reach out.

1. Cooking lessons. I taught kontoutsu ramen for a couple of years, and still have people over when I make kimchi, but the idea is just for any member to teach a recipe to the rest of us. You don't have to be a trained chef (I'm not), just have something you love.
2. Volunteer work. I tried and failed to find stuff around town last year. I gave away my car, so finding anything we could do as a group will be tough.
3. Bar crawls. Emphasis on the crawl. I personally love to explore the city (walking from 5-20 miles, round trip, over the course of the day), dressing up, graffiti, and also enjoy food and cocktails, but not so much the getting trashed part. No judgment if you enjoy it, my days of heavy partying are just done. :)
4. Local festivals. This is probably where I'll start planning, likely in November. If you know of something that is awesome but maybe not as advertised, please let me know.
5. Restaurants. I usually try to limit the number of "try new restaurants" events, since there are already other groups for that, and it can be cost prohibitive for some members. But I'm always down if you know a place.
6. Paid professional cooking classes. Similar to #5, I try to limit these, but it's been a blast the few times I've tried it with some members. There are a few public "cooking schools" in NOLA.
