🌲We're excited to announce a community hiking event at Racebrook Tract. It’s one of the largest open spaces in the area, featuring 230 acres in Orange and 181 acres in Woodbridge. With four blazed trails winding through mixed hardwoods and impressive stands of white pines, this easy hike is perfect for adults looking to enjoy the outdoors, wildlife, and spring scenery. The trails are fairly level and accessible, including a paved, handicapped-accessible boardwalk loop over beautiful wetlands

Racebrook Tract parking area, just off Racebrook Road (Route 114) in Orange, slightly north of Derby Avenue (Route 34).
📍MEETING PLACE: By the Racebrook Tract Parking Area entrance by 9:45 am.**
📌 **PLEASE NOTE:** Kindly arrive by 9:45 am, as we will not wait beyond 10:00 a.m. to start. When we reach halfway, we will spend half an hour to 45 minutes socializing and resting before heading back down.
🚶♀️TRAIL: We’ll be doing a loop hike starting and ending at the main parking lot trailhead, following the RED TRAIL to the PURPLE TRAIL, then connecting to the WHITE TRAIL before returning to the parking lot. LINK: Trail PDF: https://shorturl.at/Ivc0v
🅿️PARKING: The Racebrook Tract parking area is just off Racebrook Road (Route 114) in Orange, just north of Derby Avenue (Route 34). Route 34 can be accessed via the Wilbur Cross Parkway. Off-street parking is available off Racebrook Road just north of Derby Avenue.
WHAT TO KNOW:
Racebrook Tract includes four blazed trails with fairly level land, mixed hardwoods, and impressive stands of white pines.
THINGS TO BRING:
- Water bottle 💧
- Snacks or lunch 🍌🍱
- Wear comfortable hiking shoes and dress in layers. 👟🥾
- Sunscreen and bug spray 🧴
- A small backpack for your gear 🎒
- We love pets; however, in consideration of folks who might have allergies, we ask that you do not bring them. 🐶🐾

📌After our hike at Racebrook Tract, we’ll head to Stappa Vineyards, Orange, CT, a nearby vineyard to eat and drink—an optional chance to relax, refuel, and socialize with fellow hikers. You can bring your own chairs to sit outside, or seating is available. Whether you want to grab a quick bite, enjoy a leisurely meal, or simply share stories from the trail, you’re welcome to join us. No pressure—just good food, good company, and a great way to end the morning!
