Virgin Falls Hike for TEAM "RIGHT TURN"

Details

Join my TEAM "RIGHT TURN" for TennGreen Land Conservancy's month-long Hike-A-Thon! Just click this link and join my team: campaigns.tenngreen.org/event/hike-a-thon2025/account/1991997/
Thanks to generous supporters of conservation, Hike-a-Thoners have the opportunity to win one-of-a-kind experiences – like a private jam session for up to 6 people with Ketch Secor (lead singer of Grammy-winning Americana string band Old Crow Medicine Show) to a tour and tasting experience at Bongo Java Roasting Co.'s Nashville headquarters.
Other prizes, donated by outdoor recreation specialists and friends, include kayaks from Pyranha Kayaks and Jackson Kayak, a two-night stay at Wildwood Resort and Marina, adventure bundles from REI, tickets to Nashville Soccer Club, and so much more!

Calling all hikers, the water levels are HIGH!! Join us for an 9 MILE STRENUOUS out and back hike suited ONLY for avid hikers. The trail descends around 900 foot in elevation along a path that in many areas is rocky with uneven footing. You will feel the 900 foot ascent hiking back out. The natural area is named for Virgin Falls, which is formed by an underground stream that emerges from a cave, then drops over a 110-foot high cliff before disappearing into another cave at the bottom of the sink. The area is noted for its unique geological features and several (additional) other waterfalls including Big Laurel (cable crossing required), Sheep Cave Falls, and Big Branch Falls. There are several notable caves in the area, including the cave above Virgin Falls, where the stream itself that forms the falls. We do plan to stop for lunch at Virgin Falls area, so bring a packed lunch and at least 2 liters of water. For those daring, after lunch we can hike (scramble) up the ridge to see the top of the waterfall and possibly the cave from which it emerges. Hiking poles and backpacks are strongly encouraged.

Time: 10:00am CT at Virgin Falls Trail Head

Car Pool Option: Meet at 7:30am CT in parking lot next to FedEx: 540 Donelson Pike, Nashville, TN 37214.
